Toronto got a soulful treat Thursday night after one of R&B’s newest stars came to town, bringing a butter-like voice along with her.
Tennessee native Coco Jones took the stage at Toronto’s Phoenix Concert Theatre to deliver emotional and heavy hitting tracks from her album, What I Didn’t Tell You.
The 25-year-old vocalist recently began touring in North America as part of Spotify’s R&B First Nights series with Toronto being her third stop, and the only one in Canada.
However, judging by the energy of the crowd, it’s no wonder she made a quick stop up north.
The artist shined throughout her entire set giving fans bold choreography and flawless studio sounding vocals.

The love pouring from the audience was paid back in full between songs as Jones reminded Torontonians how special this moment was for her to share music so close to her heart, while so far away from home.
Fan favourites of the night included her hit song Caliber and Crazy For Me.
The journey and growth felt for Jones on stage was not lost on fans who have followed her career from her childhood days starring in Disney’s “Let It Shine.”
Jones has been open and candid about her struggles throughout the years and has shared in interviews that she was humbled after not rising to stardom as successfully and quickly as other childhood stars and peers did.
She shared her story in a viral video online which sparked a flood of support two years ago. In the video, Jones stated that the entertainment industry didn’t know how to market young Black girls and kept her talent on a shelf for far too long.
She credits her early life “failures” to how much she’s grown as an artist, dancer and actress.
Today, the triple threat shows no signs of slowing down after peaking on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 as well as charting high up in the R&B category.
Her breakout song ICU washer first-ever Billboard entry. The visual track has over 20 million views on YouTube and nearly 30 million streams on Spotify as of Friday.
But you don’t have to look at the numbers to feel the effects her songs have on her supporters. In fact, you could feel it in the room from the growing chants and heartfelt sing-alongs.
