Beyoncé just released her latest album and rockstar legend Roy Hamilton is featured on it.
A snippet of Hamilton’s hit single “Don’t Let Go” is featured on the interlude right before “Texas Hold ‘Em” on the Act II Cowboy Carter album.
Hamilton’s song was inspirational to Elvis Presley, who was influenced by his riffs and gospel style singing, according to Elvis Information Network.
His musical legacy has carried on to his son Roy Hamilton Jr. and grandson Roy Hamilton III, who are both from Toronto.
“Queen Beyoncé I would like to Personally Thank You for featuring my Dad Roy Hamilton’s song “Don’t Let Go” on your Cowboy Carter album. The album is wonderful,” Roy Hamilton Jr. commented on Beyonce’s Instagram reel featuring his father’s song.
Roy Hamilton III is a Grammy-nominated producer, songwriter, and A&R executive. He’s helped sell over 70 million albums worldwide for Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Keri Hilson, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, and more.
He won Billboard Album of the Year this year and Gospel Music Award Album of The Year in 2018.
Harnessing his experiences working with chart-topping singers, Hamilton III created The Singers Company to help singers transform into professional recording artists with their partnership with Universal Music Group.
Earlier this month, “Let That Music Out” was released – Hamilton III’s first syndicated radio and podcast on Indie 101.5 and Philly Jamz 95.3 in the U.S. and on CHHA 1610 AM in Toronto, according to the Singers Company website.
Billboard Canada reported that recent JUNO award-winning producer Shawn Everett also contributed to Beyoncé’s album, while Canadians Megan Bülow wrote two tracks on the album, and Nathan Ferraro co-produced “Texas Hold ‘Em.”
Although Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Act II album doesn’t completely fall under country music, her tribute to Roy Hamilton and choosing to work with other Canadian artists adds more diversity to the genre.
You can listen to Beyoncé’s new album on all streaming platforms.
