If you’re looking for a night full of dancing and good vibes, look no further than Kuruza.
The creative agency and collective of DJs was founded by Toronto-based DJs Hangaëlle, Minzi Roberta and Kiga. Kuruza works to support a community of artists at “the intersection of music, arts and immersive experiences,” while creating safe spaces for the African diaspora and beyond.
“Kuruza is the act of doing something that makes you happy – this principle and feeling is at the core of what we do,” the collective said in a statement.
Kuruza is well known for its Sound System event series, described as “an eclectic dance party that champions sound from Africa and its diaspora.”
With global sounds with Africa at the center, this is a feel-good party at its core.
Kuruza’s Sound System parties first began at SoSo Food Club in November 2018, before eventually moving to the Drake Hotel. Now they are regularly hosted at Toronto’s Hush Hush Bar.
On Nov. 24, Kuruza is celebrating five years of Sound System at History with a party like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
The event will feature sets from a variety of artists, including Toronto’s DJ collective Afrique Like Me and Parisian guest DJ Anais B. For the last two hours of the concert, the headliner, Kuruza, will play a DJ set and feature live instrumentalists and dancers, creating an audio-visual experience like nothing they have done before.
Tickets for Kuruza Sound System’s 5th Anniversary are now on sale.
Ahead of the big event, Now Toronto has partnered with Kuruza to give away two tickets to the Nov. 24 party.
