Believe it or not, data shows that Toronto is actually one of the quietest cities in the world.
Online language learning platform Preply has analyzed the world’s noisiest and quietest cities by creating a list of major global cities and analyzing different factors, including population density, average time spent in traffic, noise pollution rating and reviews mentioning the words “noisy” or “loud.”
On a list of one to 10, Toronto ranked the 10th quietest city in the world based on the following factors: a population of 4,000 people per square kilometre, 4,451,000 annual visitors, and spending an average of 45 minutes in traffic. Other factors included a noise pollution rating of 47.83, 88 pubs and bars advertised on TripAdvisor, and 112 English-language attraction reviews on TripAdvisor mentioning the words “noisy” or “loud”.
In addition to being the only Canadian city on the list, it was also the only city in the Western Hemisphere.
