Perfect for those moments when you really want a win in life, Moon Poker combines the thrill of poker with the safety of a non-gambling platform through their hyper-turbo tournaments hosted every night on their app at 9 p.m. ET.
Take a moment away from your busy schedules and embark on an intergalactic ride with 20 to 30 minute-long, risk-free games that are tailored for both casual players and traditional poker enthusiasts.
Upon downloading the app, users are asked to create an account, and here’s where you can have fun and experiment with creating a unique username for your character.
Next step is to hit register if the player wishes to play that night’s game. Players can see the duration of the game, the prize pool and positions paid.
At the beginning of each tournament, there’s a 10-minute window where late registrations are accepted; new players can join, and players who lose can re-enter the game using their stars.
In the app, you can find out more about the structure, and the prize for each game which can often range from upwards of $100 USD for first prize, or simply a certain number of stars to enter future tournaments for those who are not in the top three or four winners.
Speaking to Now Toronto on Moon Poker’s launch event, the app’s founder Andrew Shore said he hopes to get the cash prize “up to the hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions, one day.”
In fact, Moon Poker has an upcoming tournament on Sept. 10 with $5,000 USD up for grabs, marking its biggest prize pool yet! So far, the platform has given away $8,000 USD in prizes since launching earlier this summer.
Shore, who has been toying with video game apps since his university days, says with Moon Poker he aims to offer a virtual, mobile-friendly experience that challenges the fear and stereotypes often associated with poker.
“Moon Poker isn’t just another app; it’s a testament to our dedication to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in mobile gaming,” he added.
What sets Moon Poker apart is its unique approach to poker. Unlike traditional poker games, there is no betting with your own money. Instead, players earn stars through achievements, watching advertisements, or making purchases for in-app add ons.
These stars are then used to enter nightly tournaments where real cash prizes are up for grabs. It’s a perfect blend of entertainment and excitement without the financial risk.
Each tournament has its own theme, such as Astral All-In or Saloon Showdown. Stay updated on the night’s theme by following Moon Poker on social media platforms like Instagram and X.
