If you’ve been a long-time supporter of Tim Hortons, then you might know of its beloved dutchie which is set to make its grand return in the new year.
For those unfamiliar, the dutchie is a square-shaped sweet treat containing raisins that is coated with a sugary glaze. It was introduced back in 1964 when the coffee chain first launched but was taken off the market in the early 2000’s, according to Canadian Press.
Despite making a swift reappearance in 2017 for Canada’s 150th anniversary, it never officially made its comeback to the menu. Now, years later, Tim Hortons says it’s coming back to stores on Jan. 10.
And that’s not all. Customers will be pleased to hear that the company is also going to be introducing four new doughnuts for 2024.
These new additions come in honour of the brand’s 60th anniversary on May 17.

“The milestone year will pay homage to some of the original treats on the menu when the first Tims opened in Hamilton, Ont,” Tim Hortons said in a statement to the Canadian Press.
The report says that the process of returning the dutchie has not been easy because of the brand’s 2021 promise of keeping its core menu free of artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.
But the company has worked to perfect its dutchie recipe to have it ready for its 4,000 Canadian restaurants in the new year.
And the same rigorous process has been applied to other anniversary products that the company is reviving next year, including its omelette bites in the bacon and egg white and spinach varieties, and sweet chili chicken wraps and bowls. The omelette bites will be released on Jan. 8 and the new bowls and wraps will be released sometime in Feb.
Customers can expect lots of red and white packaging when Tims celebrates its anniversary. Chief Marketing Officer for Tim Hortons Hope Bagozzi says the company’s slogan next year will be “60 years of keeping it fresh” and they will have a “60” logo made of infinity loop-like stripes.
In addition, timbit boxes will get a new look, a new hockey-centric ad will be released, and the Roll up to Win contest will be anniversary-themed as well.
REACTIONS TO THE RETURN OF THE DUTCHIE
Following the announcement, many Tim Hortons fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their reactions.
While some are happy about the return of the pastry, others are unimpressed by the news.
